Edge Detection Fusion Demo
A downloadable project for Windows
About This Project
This interactive prototype showcases exploratory research in uncertainty-based edge detection fusion for game graphics. Developed as part of exploring potential thesis directions at Hochschule Darmstadt, this Unity-based application demonstrates how multiple edge detection algorithms can be intelligently combined using Dempster-Shafer Theory of Evidence.
Multiple Edge Detection Methods:
- Sobel Operator - Classic gradient-based detection
- Prewitt Detector - Alternative gradient approach with equal weighting
- Laplacian Method - Second-derivative edge detection for fine details
- Geometric Detection - Modern approach using surface normals, depth, and color information
- DST Fusion - Novel combination of all methods with uncertainty modeling
Interactive Controls:
- Switch between different edge detection algorithms in real-time
- Adjust sensitivity thresholds and parameters
- Modify confidence levels for the fusion system
Research Context: Potential thesis directions exploring robust outline generation for modern game development
Built with: Unity Engine 6, Universal Render Pipeline (URP), Custom Shader Graph implementations
Academic Institution: Hochschule Darmstadt - Animation and Games Program
Note: This is a research prototype demonstrating academic concepts. Some implementation details are adapted for Unity's shader system limitations.
